Professional Tile & Grout Cleaning Service
Atom Cleaning Co provides professional tile and grout cleaning across NJ, NY, and CT for ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, slate, travertine, and saltillo. Truck-mounted equipment delivers high-pressure hot water (around 200°F) into porous grout lines, lifting years of dirt, soap scum, food spills, and mildew that mops and household cleaners can’t reach.
Optional penetrating sealer locks out future staining for 3–5 years and makes routine cleaning dramatically easier.
Why Professional Tile & Grout Cleaning Matters
- Grout is highly porous — it absorbs spills, soap, body oils,
and mildew that mopping just pushes deeper into the surface - DIY grout brushing and bleach gradually erode the grout, dull
the surrounding tile, and rarely restore the original color - Truck-mounted hot-water extraction reaches deep into grout
lines at temperatures that kill mold, mildew, and bacteria - Color-sealing after cleaning protects grout for 3–5 years,
making routine cleaning faster and preventing the gray-line
effect from returning

Tile & Grout Cleaning FAQ
Can you really restore grout that’s turned dark gray or black back to its original color?
In most cases, yes. Grout discoloration is usually surface buildup — dirt, soap scum, mildew, and body oils embedded in porous grout. Hot-water extraction pulls this out, often restoring 80–95% of the original color. For permanent staining or chemically damaged grout, color-sealing applies pigment directly to grout lines — guaranteeing uniform color and a fresh look.
What’s the difference between cleaning grout and sealing grout?
Cleaning removes existing dirt, mildew, and stains from grout lines. Sealing is a separate step that applies a penetrating barrier (clear or color-matched) into the porous grout to block future stains for 3–5 years. We always recommend sealing after cleaning — it’s the difference between grout staying clean for months vs. years.
Will tile and grout cleaning damage my natural stone tile (slate, travertine, marble)?
No, when done correctly. We use pH-neutral, stone-safe cleaners and adjust water pressure for delicate surfaces. Acidic cleaners that work fine on ceramic can etch natural stone — we never use them on slate, travertine, marble, or limestone. We test a small area first and stop immediately if there’s any reaction.
How long does the floor stay clean after professional cleaning?
Without sealing: 4–12 months before visible buildup returns (faster in bathrooms and entryways). With color-sealing: 3–5 years of stain-free grout that wipes clean with a damp mop. Sealing dramatically reduces re-cleaning frequency and makes routine maintenance much easier.
Can you fix cracked, missing, or crumbling grout?
We can identify these issues during inspection but cleaning alone won’t fix them. Cracked or missing grout needs regrouting (removing damaged grout and applying new) — which we offer as a separate service. We’ll honestly tell you whether cleaning + sealing is enough or whether regrouting is needed before sealing makes sense.
